Have you ever met someone who always seems to get into trouble, no matter what they do? These are the [very true] stories of one such person…well, not so much a person as a cuddly little teddy bear named Flapjax.
About the Humans Behind Flapjax’s Adventures
Lisa (Author) and Karissa (Illustrator) are childhood best friends from New Jersey who recently reconnected over their shared love of story-telling.
Lisa D’Aromando: Author
Lisa, a lifelong human friend of Flapjax and an aspiring writer, witnessed many of these shenanigans first-hand and decided that others would enjoy them as much as she had.
Likes: Lots of popcorn, reading in front of the fireplace, Belmar Beach on Locals’ Weekend, her alma mater – William & Mary, everything historical fiction, and playing ball hockey with her teams, the Stanley Cupcakes and the Children of Zeus. And of course her wonderful family and friends.
Dislikes: Single-degree temperatures, the fact that cheese is bad for you, and dryer lint.
Lisa received her BBA and MBA from The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. She currently lives in Washington, D.C. and spends her days crafting marketing strategies for small businesses.
Karissa Hewson: Illustrator
Karissa grew up down the street from Lisa and has known Flapjax from the time he was a young bear.
Likes: Spending quality time with her family, making up silly songs to sing to her one-year-old, making up silly songs to sing to her dog, painting, cooking, crafting and getting to enjoy the great outdoors.
Dislikes: Licorice, itchy sweaters and anything that swarms.
Karissa received her degree in Fine Art from Humboldt State University in northern California. She currently lives in Jackson, New Jersey, with her husband (Corby), daughter (Shirley) and dog (Lyla).
